Abseiling, or ‘rappelling’, is basically a method of descending a rope in a safe, controlled manner. It has gained widespread use and acceptance in many fields such as climbing, caving and rescue.
Your beginners' abseiling course in Sydney will start on a small boulder and progress through a variety of abseils, where you'll get to practice as many times as you like. As you progress throughout the day-long abseiling course, fun challenges will be put before you. Race your mate down a sheer cliff face or launch yourself and bound to the bottom in as few touches of the wall as you dare!
While it's a fun and adventurous abseiling course, enormous emphasis is placed on abseiling safety. You'll learn the important skills needed to abseil in safety anywhere, including cliff-top safety, care of equipment, safety checks and correct abseiling techniques. The abseiling guides are encouraging and entertaining and are a very useful source of rock sports knowledge around Sydney, Australia and the World.
After lunch the abseiling crew will tackle bigger drops, gradually progressing to abseils of 30 to 40 metres, even up to 60 metres, depending on the abseiling site. The big abseils are for anyone feeling confident enough to accept the challenge. The true adrenaline seeker can try a face-first "rap jump". At the completion of the abseiling course you will have the skills to qualify as a basic abseiler and will be able to tackle more advanced abseils and rap jumps, or to try your hand at multi-pitch abseiling, canyoning or caving.
Tours run any day on demand for groups of 3 or more people. Private tours are available at extra cost – contact Adrenaline on 1300 791 793 to arrange.
Great Time, Great experience, Eric was Amazing very helpful with lots of interesting stories about climbing, abseiling and more def value for money
Despite the rain and fog it was a great day. Instructors were great and felt completely safe all day.
Overall the experience on the day was excellent, and I will be going back and getting other adventures.
Adrenalin has an amazing team at the Blue Mountains Adenture Company. Our guides name was Evan and by chance Evan had a work experience student named Tyler helping him out. Between the two of them they ensured we were safe, happy and having a great time all day. What more can you ask for. We had the best day I've had in a long time. Thanks to the Adrenalin and BMAC teams. Regards Troy Cameron
I would recommend abseiling to anyone of reasonable fitness, It's a great day out.
We had a fantastic day with Marty from the Blue Mountains Adventure Company. The course catered to people of varying abilities. My husband, (pictured on the 16m abseil) overcame his fear of heights. We felt challenged, yet comfortable & totally unpressured with the different challenges. Gorgeous picnic spot to rest for lunch - even freshly chopped & prepared in front of us by our guide! Best views ever, and perfect location. I especially loved the 25m abseil, even had a crack at the 60m (15 stories high)!!! That was a mind blowing experience to end the day. We will definately be back!!!
Had a ball bugger the rain ill b back to try the higher drop
Going through Adrenalin, it was quick and easy, finding what you want and paying for it. They put me on to the best company that look after me and show me how to abseiling, it was an awersome day
Great guides and instructors awesome scenery.
Truly a great abseiling experience. We felt secure the entire day, trusting the experience and expertise of our guide, Marty. After building up our skills on smaller drops, we headed for the big one. There was a great mix of trepidation and excitement as we went over the 45 metre drop, followed by the thrill of accomplishment (and relief) when our feet touched the ground at the bottom of the rock face.
WEATHER: Outdoor programs are weather dependent, it will be up to the trip leaders discretion to decide if the trip will be cancelled. When evaluating weather conditions our client’s safety is of the utmost importance. Remember the weather in the mountains can be very different to that in Sydney. The trip will go ahead unless you are notified.
TRANSPORT: The guides will be using a vehicle to transport equipment to the start of the trip. It may be possible for you to travel in that vehicle, otherwise you are welcome to take your own vehicle. The abseiling site is approximately 15 minutes drive from Katoomba, with the last kilometre on a flat unsealed road suitable for two wheel-drive vehicles. Regular commuter trains run between Sydney and Katoomba - a journey of approximately two hours.
