How far is Wollongong from Sydney?

Wollongong is 84 kilometres (52 miles) from Sydney by road and the journey takes around 90 minutes. It’s also possible to travel between the two locations by train.

For those travelling by road, one of the highlights for anyone taking a trip to Wollongong (or anywhere along the NSW South Coast) is the chance to cruise Grand Pacific Drive and the famous Sea Cliff Bridge.

This is a great adventure in itself, with some stunning coastal spots and towns to stop off at along the way. There are also a number of attractions in the area, like the Science Centre and Planetarium, Symbio Wildlife Park and Nan Tien Temple - the Southern Hemisphere's largest Buddhist temple.
