What you can expect
Experience the thrill of learning to fly with this gliding introductory flight over Gawler by the iconic Barossa Valley. You’ll be strapped in the front seat with a qualified instructor in the rear and launched by a power plane to an exhilarating 3,000 feet. Check out the modern two-seat fibreglass sailplane with your Duty Instructor who will show you around the glider and explain the controls. Then it’s time for take-off. Your instructor will conduct the launch and the release before it’s your turn to handle the aircraft. Experience the excitement of shallow and sharp turns, slow-speed and high-speed runs, pinpoint landing, and just soaring high above the countryside. You’ll have a debrief after your flight to mark the end of your adrenaline-pumping flying lesson.

Operating Hours
- The flight lasts from 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the weather
- If you wish to stay airborne longer, extra time will be charged at club rates on the day
- Available every weekend and with limited operation on weekdays
Departure Location
- Ward Belt Road, Gawler. From The Gawler bypass, take the Mallala exit, then turn right into Mallala Rd. In a few hundered meters (follow blue 'Airfield' signs) turn left into Kentish Road. Travel about 2 km until the road ends in a T junction. Turn left into Ward Belt Rd, follow this road until you reach the Airfield.

- Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended
- Please wear long pants and enclosed shoes

- Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
