Plunge into a three-day SSI Open Water Diver course at Moore Reef on the Great Barrier Reef, where all nine training dives take place in the ocean. No pool. No classroom. Just salt water from start to finish. Complete the theory online before you arrive, then begin with five confined-water training dives in a sheltered pontoon training area, shallow enough to stand up in. From there, progress to four open water dives on the reef, reaching depths of up to 18 metres. With up to three dives a day and a buffet lunch included, you'll build skills fast in a spectacular reef setting.

With an SSI instructor by your side and all equipment provided, you're free to focus on the coral, marine life and thrill of breathing underwater. Complete your final exam on the way home and step off the boat certified to dive anywhere in the world. Your digital certification is delivered via the SSI app with no expiry. Open to ages 10 and up, with Junior certification available for divers under 15.

Itinerary

Open Water Diver Course Itinerary:
Before You Arrive:
Complete six sections of SSI digital learning before Day 1 (Allow approximately 8 to 12 hours to complete the theory at your own pace)
Day 1:
Water fitness evaluation
Confined-water training in a sheltered pontoon training centre
Learn and practise key diving skills, including mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control and air sharing
Day 2:
Complete confined-water training
Undertake your first two open-water dives to a maximum depth of 12 metres
Day 3:
Complete your final two open-water dives to a maximum depth of 18 metres (Participants aged 10 to 11 years have a maximum depth of 12 metres)
Complete your final exam and achieve your SSI Open Water Diver certification
