Excellent experience.
The instructor was very polite, patient and informative. I arrived a bit early, so he let me take off early! He explained everything very well and the experience felt realistic enough. It's been a few days since, but I'm still thinking about how good it was to operate and feel the primary controls of the 737. It was also great to fly in and out of airports around the world of my choice - even a touch an go off an aircraft carrier deck in Pearl Harbour (only wish I had fully deployed flaps ' cos hitting that deck at 170 knots was pretty hairy). I recommend at least 90 minutes to 'get to know and feel' the controls. If you have a friend or family member who likes planes / is into aviation then do not hesitate to send them on this adventure.
What you can expect
Get into the pilot's of a Boeing 737-800 during this exciting flight simulator experience in Canberra. Guided by a professional pilot, you'll choose from over 22,000 airports from which to take-off and land and weather conditions you would like to fly in, and you'll manage your airspeed and altitude with instruments and controls.
On arrival, you'll meet your First Officer who will take you through your pre-flight briefing. You'll be briefed on the primary controls, instruments and procedures necessary to be ready for take-off then after permission from Air Traffic Control, you will accelerate the plane down the runway and take-off. You can customise your flight choosing where you want to fly and the weather conditions. You'll able to choose at least two different locations for take-off and landings.
Whilst in the air you will have to monitor your instruments and controls as well as go through the same check-lists as an actual flight. You will also have to keep your wits about you as you may experience engine failures. Then comes the landing - this will take all of your skill and concentration.
