Coffs Harbour Stand Up Paddle Board Aboriginal Cultural Tour Coffs Harbour Stand Up Paddle Board Aboriginal Cultural Tour

How often do you indulge in a uniquely Australian adventure? Some activities could be anywhere, but this stand up paddle board tour is rooted in learning about and investing in Aboriginal culture, so you’re getting a real Australian experience. Beautiful natural landscapes are a core part of most Aussie adventures, and spending 2.5 hours paddling around one of the three creek locations in the Solitary Islands Marine Park definitely ticks that box. You’ll be set up with a stand up paddle board lesson before heading on your tour through either Coffs Creek, Moonee Creek or Red Rock Creek. This is the homeland of the Gumbaynggirr tribal nation, and you’ll learn about their dreamtime stories, language and general culture as you travel through their land. Between paddling to picturesque, culturally significant spots you’ll have the chance to collect and taste some seasonal bush tucker and learn about native bush foods and medicines. You’ll also be treated to a morning tea of fresh fruits while you stop in an iconic resting place. These tours benefit the local Gumbaynggirr people by creating tourism employment opportunities, reinforcing the value of cultural knowledge, and donating a percentage of profits invested in Aboriginal youth. So not only do you get to enjoy a beautiful and educational hands-on tour, but your participation also makes a contribution back to the community.

Standing out from the crowd

I thoroughly enjoyed the SUP tour with Wajaana Yaam Adventure Tours. Clarke is an inspiring young Gumbaynggirr leader who engaged all ages in the group with his knowledge, stories and enthusiasm. So encouraging to see culture shared in this way. And I was able to stay up on my board, so had a really peaceful and cruisy experience. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike.
