Itinerary

Day 1: Beach Driving, Shipwrecks & Beachside Camping Your K’gari adventure begins in Rainbow Beach, where you'll meet your fellow travellers and experienced guide before heading to the ferry. After crossing to the world's largest sand island, it's time to hit the sand and experience the thrill of driving a 4WD along K’gari's famous beach highways. Travel north along spectacular 75 Mile Beach, taking in endless ocean views and stopping at some of the island's most iconic landmarks. Visit the historic SS Maheno Shipwreck, one of K’gari's most photographed attractions, and learn about its fascinating history. Continue to Eli Creek, where you can cool off in the crystal-clear freshwater stream and relax in one of the island's most beautiful natural settings. After a full day of exploring, arrive at your private beachside campsite. Settle in, enjoy dinner with your group and spend the evening sharing stories beneath a sky filled with stars, just metres from the ocean. Day 2: Ancient Rainforests & Lake McKenzie Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy breakfast before setting off to discover K’gari's lush interior. Journey through changing landscapes to Central Station, once the heart of the island's timber industry and now one of its most picturesque rainforest areas. Follow Wanggoolba Creek through towering forests and explore the ancient beauty of Pile Valley, home to impressive Satinay trees growing directly from the sand. Your guide will share stories about the island's unique ecosystem, cultural significance and fascinating history along the way. The adventure continues at Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie), K’gari's most famous freshwater lake. Surrounded by pure white silica sand and vibrant turquoise water, it's the perfect place to swim, relax and soak up the beauty of this World Heritage-listed destination. After lunch, it's time to say goodbye to paradise as you make your way back across the island and board the ferry to the mainland. Arrive back in Rainbow Beach in the late afternoon with unforgettable memories and plenty of stories to tell.

Any guest wishing to participate in driving during their tour MUST meet all of the following criteria:
be over the age of 21 years
have held a full manual drivers license for at least 1 year
have their national drivers license with them (International driving permits unaccompanied by a national drivers license are invalid)
Any guests that fail to meet all the above criteria will be ineligible to partake as drivers, however, can still join the tour as a non-driver
If you elect to participate as a driver on one of our tours, you will be responsible for the safekeeping of the vehicle and any equipment
Guests must reconfirm direct with the suppliers reservations team at least 48 hours prior to travel, where we need to collect any applicable dietary and medical requirements and update your driver status
All guests MUST attend a mandatory briefing at 7am, which covers important island and safety information, prior to the departure of their tour. Guests who fail to show for their briefing risk missing their tour and being classed as a 'no show', forfeiting their fare
