Tasmania is famous for its incredible seafood, and this is your chance to gather and feast on seafood that’s as fresh as it comes. You’ll spend your morning cruising around some of the most picturesque waterways around Hobart, collecting delicious oceanic treats as you go, then you can kick back and indulge in a delicious and well-earned lunch. Your voyage begins on Hobart’s waterfront, where the fishing boats are moored at Constitution Dock. Here you’ll board the custom-built boat and meet your fellow travellers coming aboard for the day. The ocean to plate seafood cruise runs with a maximum of 12 people, as to ensure that the experience feels fun, intimate, and never overcrowded. You’ll be setting off to gather the fresh seafood and explore the pristine landscapes that Tasmania is famous for, so gear up for a big day. Cruising down Derwent River and into the sheltered waters of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, you’ll head to your first stop: Tassal salmon farm. See the hoards of thousands of salmon in the farm and pick up a fresh catch to enjoy later. At the next stop you’ll be able to taste the lush, salty, Tasmanian oysters straight from the shell before heading south, away from the city and traces of civilisation. The views from the boat are breathtaking as you take in the peaks of the Hartz Mountains, the sandy beaches of Bruny Island and the water rushing past. You’ll make a stop just off a rocky shore, where your guide will dive in and snorkel for wild abalone and sea urchin to add to your feast. Once you’ve collected all your seafood, it’s time to spend a few hours enjoying your fresh seafood lunch in a secluded bay. The feast will be accompanied by local and award-winning cheeses, wines, beers and ciders, so you’ll definitely leave feeling very full. This is a completely unique opportunity to taste and see the best of what Tasmania has to offer, and enjoy an adventurous and delicious day out. This experience is part of our Low-Footprint Adventures range because it is ECO certified by Ecotourism Australia.
