Outstanding day!
I bought this for my new learner driver who had only completed 2hours of driving practice prior to this course. We both learnt so much about our vehicle and its breaking capabilities. This really is a must do for everybody, and should be part of a driving program required for all Learner and P plate drivers.

Instructors were great and really helpful would recommend to anyone looking to improve their driving skills.
What you can expect
This experience is presented over 2 days and in a relaxed, friendly, and supportive environment by qualified, experienced instructors. The first course you'll mix it up with theory and practical components, so regardless of your driving experience, you'll have a great day of learning. The second session is the Advanced Car Control Course gives you the opportunity to push a little harder, learn more technical and advanced vehicle dynamics, and explore ‘high end’ vehicle control skills at the critical limit, but in a safe and non-threatening environment. This course requires concentration and commitment right up to the last minute, but best of all its great fun! Please Note: You will be required to bring your own vehicle on the day.

- Level 1 Defensive Driving Course prerequisite for Level 2 Advanced Driving Course
- Level 2 courses are conducted approximately every 6-8 weeks at Sandown International Raceway
- You must provide your own vehicle and hold a current driver’s license (a provisional license is okay) which must be brought on the day of your experience
- All participants must present their current driver’s licence in order to participate
- Learner drivers are accepted provided they have a fully licenced driver with them at all times
Inclusions
- Two x Full day control driver training courses (defensive and advanced)
- An in depth analysis of the theory, physical skills; seating, steering, vision, braking, accelerating and the use of transmission
- Basic and advanced vehicle dynamics theory
- Practical basic and advanced vehicle dynamics
- Highway speed emergency braking for both ABS and non ABS
- Evasive lane changes
- Understeer / oversteer causes, control, and prevention
- Emergency multiple direction changes
- Raising the drivers level of awareness in relation to speed, reaction times and stopping distances
- Learn how your vehicle reacts in emergency situations
- Highway speed emergency corner braking on wet roads

- Defensive Driving Course 8.30am -4.00pm
- Advanced Driving Course 9.00am-4.00pm
- Please book in advance. Bookings are subject to availability
- This experience runs over 2 days. You will book in the first course initially, and then the second experience is booked with the experience provider.

Departure Location
- This experience takes place at Sandown International Raceway, Melbourne.
- Sandown Raceway is located at 591-659 Princes Hwy (Dandenong Rd) Springvale. Please enter via the main overpass gates. Once inside, look for the Driver Dynamics signs, they will direct you to the course
What To Bring
- Casual and comfortable clothing is ideal and sturdy, enclosed footwear, sunscreen and a hat is recommended. Please Note: You will be required to bring your own vehicle on the day.
Additional Information
- You will be required to sign an indemnity form prior to participating in the practical component of the course.
- This experience is not affected by weather.

Cancellation Policy
- Change your booking up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Limited Driving Area but Friendly Staff
The driving space was relatively small, making it challenging to attain the necessary speed for braking, and there were restrictions on the variety of maneuvers practiced. The staff, however, were friendly and generally well-informed.

Maybe my expectations were too high?
We booked this experience for our 18 year old who has had his Ps for six months. We thought that he would gain a lot of experience about controlling the car better, being able to quickly navigate conditions and learn about emergency breaking - particularly if a car was ever out of control. We also thought the additional theory would be good. Unfortunately, even though he was trying to make it a positive experience, he came away feeling like it wasn't a great use of the day. The instructors were lovely, but he didn't learn anything beyond what he'd already covered in his P test, or that he'd leant from driving with us. Perhaps it's better suited to people with no confidence or little driving experience, but unfortunately we can't recommend this course for if you are already an experienced driver and want to genuinely be a better driver and learn to drive defensively.
