Itinerary

  • Day 1
  • 7:30am - Hotel pickup commences Your driver and guide will greet you at your pickup location, before loading your cabin baggage into our van and traveling just 45 minutes north of Batemans Bay to the southern end of Murramarang National Park. While you travel in our comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, you will have the opportunity to discuss your interests with your guide and aid in selecting the best suited sections of the park to explore throughout your journey.
  • 8:30am - With only your day packs (available for use from Region X if required), step into another world and leave civilisation behind as we enter this exquisite coastline via a forested trail. We will take our time to soak up the diversity of the quintessentially Australian landscape; stopping to discuss the significance of the geology in the area, the rich Indigenous history and the impact of early colonisation and industry. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphin and seals playing, soaring birds of prey, and migrating whales (June to November) as we cross the clifftops and beaches. Along the journey, you will also learn about the impact of recent bushfires throughout the Park and its remarkable resilience and witness the epicormic regrowth first-hand. \Stop for refreshments and lunch at any number of secluded beaches, before passing through the ancient sandstone passages to your first night’s accommodation. Lounging kangaroos and many other native species greet you at the door of your twin share beachfront villa.
  • 4pm - Enjoy complimentary bubbly and light refreshments as we celebrate the completion of the first day together on the trail. Your will have some some free time prior to a delicious dinner at the onsite restaurant, followed by a restful night in your villa.
  • Day 2 Beach Walking
  • 8:30am - Beach Walking After a relaxed breakfast on your cabin deck, we set off walking along the beach (this is also the day to perhaps trade your walking shoes for a kayaking experience!). Relish in a barefoot beach walk section across Durras Beach and possible shallow lake crossing, with time for a quick dip to cool down and reinvigorate. The northern end of the beach is a great spot to rest prior to the uphill rainforest climb to the breathtaking lookout of Point Upright. Enjoy lunch with a view before descending to Depot Beach - one of the coast’s remnant logger’s camps, now an exclusive holiday destination.
  • 4pm - Enjoy an afternoon of exploring the area. Your guides will be happy to show you around, or taking you snorkelling. Dinner tonight will be a social affair - lovingly prepared by your guides and served on the cabin deck.
  • Day 3 - Rainforest Walking
  • 8:30 - After breakfast, leave the comfort of your accommodation and stroll off along the trail to iconic Pebbly Beach where resident kangaroos have found fame as visitors come to photograph them lazing on the beach in true Australian style. The beach is also a popular surf spot and one of the prettiest beaches on the South Coast. The trail winds over ridges and down to the sand, and creeks meet the ocean here as the dominant Durras Mountain (the largest mountain in the area) provides a watershed and pockets of rainforest relish in the moisture. We too will spend some time soaking up the beauty of this lush landscape. With lunch along the way, you spend the day discovering yet another vastly different section of this National Park. We will conclude our journey with a celebratory swim and light refreshments at the aptly named Pretty Beach. Here, your driver will be ready to collect you and return you to your Batemans Bay hotel of choice.
  • 4pm – Return to your hotel. We encourage our groups to meet up for a post tour dinner in town at any number of local restaurants we are happy to recommend.
