What you can expect
The Classic Rattler Run takes you back in time to the heyday of the Mary Valley restored steam engine train. Leaving from the historic Gympie Station, you’ll travel in style with private seating in the VIP Club Car as you pass through the picturesque sights of Queensland’s Mary Valley. Sit back and enjoy the view, and you’ll be treated to a delicious local cheese and wine pack in the iconic Club Car. Queensland’s Mary Valley railway line was of great significance to the Gympie community and the restored train journey is run by a not-for-profit organisation for the preservation of heritage rail in Queensland. So your train ticket is not only an exhilarating, memorable experience, it also goes towards keeping this important piece of history alive.

- The operation of steam is subject to weather conditions, total fire ban, volunteer driver availability or situations out of the control of the Rattler Railway Company. At times there may be an operational necessity to change the scheduled engine.
Operating Hours
- Please arrive 45 minutes prior to your departure time. The rail experience is 3 hours long.
- Departs Historic Gympie Station (Return Journey)
- MORNING TRAIN:
- Please check-in at Tour Desk at 8:15 am
- This experience departs from 9:00am on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday departures.

- Mary Valley Rattler is a not-for-profit organisation for the preservation of heritage rail in Queensland
- Train journey is one hour one way, with one hour at Amamoor before return
- The operation of steam is subject to weather conditions, total fire ban, volunteer driver availability or situations out of the control of the Rattler Railway Company. At times there may be an operational necessity to change the scheduled engine
- At January 2020, The Mary Valley Rattler holds a current exemption from QFES allowing them to operate all services during total fire ban.
- Due to the heritage nature of our carriages, access and egress from the carriages requires the ability to climb stairs and safely negotiate the gap between the platform and the carriage. We are unable to provide manual assistance to board the carriages. We do not have facilities to provide for or accommodate high chairs or prams as they will not fit through the doorways of the carriages and some exhibits are accessible only by stairs.
