Get out on the water for a day on board a charter boat and enjoy a fun six hours of fishing for the elusive gummy shark and the prized Australian snapper around Geelong near Melbourne. You’ll spend the day on a covered, flat-level vessel with all food, bait and tackle provided.
The elusive gummy shark may not be the most ferocious predator of its kind, but they’re delicious and they can take patience to catch. Meanwhile, the snapper is one of the most prized fish in Australian waters. Phases of the moon, stages of the tide, time of day and the depth of water all play a part in your odds, so these trips run only three times a year between November and February.
Jump on board the ‘Corio Princess’, which is purpose-build to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids. This gummy shark fishing trip is suited to varied ages and skill levels, so round up your crew or your family and head out. Lunch is included and there’s a licensed bar on board (11am-11pm), a snack bar and plenty of fish to be caught.
Your captain will supply you with premium bait and Shimano rods and reels as well as insightful knowledge about fishing in the area. While gummy sharks and snapper are your target, you might also catch school sharks, seven-gill sharks and even flathead. You keep any legal-sized fish you catch (bag limits do apply) and they can be filleted and packed on ice for you to take away.
