Spend the day exploring the world famous Pinnacles Desert, driving over the Lancelin sand dunes, and fishing into the evening on a secluded beach. With your bare feet in the sand, sipping a cold drink and watching the orange sun set over the Indian Ocean.
Combine an adventure through the world-famous Pinnacles Desert and Discovery Centre with a tranquil sunset beach fishing session, and you’ll be getting the best that the Western Australia coast has to offer.
Departing from Hillarys Marina just north of Perth, you’ll be driven two hours north up to the iconic natural wonder that is the Pinnacles Desert. Keep your eyes peeled along the way for emus, kangaroos, bobtail lizards, wedge-tail eagles and an abundance of local wildlife that inhabits the area.
You’ll stop to check out the weathered rock formations that speckle the yellow desert sand, before heading to Lancelin to buy some lunch and souvenirs. Then it’s time to take the adventure up a notch as your guide lets the tyres down to take on the dunes. Hold on tight and experience the adrenaline-pumping exhilaration of driving over mountainous Lancelin sand dunes in a 4WD.
Eventually you’ll come to the beach on the other side of the dunes, where you’ll enjoy a scenic drive to the perfect fishing spot. Settle in for the evening for a fishing session on the beach as the sun sets. You can choose to catch and release, or keep your catch and have it filleted ready for cooking. You’ll be treated to two glasses of wine or beer each and you can bring along a picnic to enjoy by the beach too. Relax, fish, go for a dip and just enjoy the evening on the pristine beach.
The drive back will return to Hillarys Marina around midnight, so you can rest up on the way after an action-packed day.
