    Get your adventure fix with this kayaking and hiking six-hour tour from Okahu Bay to Rangitoto Island. You’ll paddle across Auckland Harbour, hike to the island’s summit, then enjoy an exciting night paddle back. 

    Head out onto the water at Okahu Bay and set out for a paddling adventure that will take just over an hour. Once you’ve landed on Rangitoto Island it’s time to brush off and get ready for an epic hike to the summit of the island’s dormant volcano.  

    On your guided hike to the top you’ll explore amazing rock formations, spot wildife and learn about the history of the island. Reach the summit and you’ll be immediately rewarded with panoramic views over Auckland City, the inner harbour and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf. The best part is that you’ll be soaking up the spectacular view as the sun sets.  

    Finish your adventure with the kayak trip back to Auckland. Paddling at night adds a unique thrill to the adventure and you’ll be guided by the twinkling lights of the city and the starry night sky as you make your travel in the dark.

    Fitness and Experience

    • Minimum age 16 years 
    • Not recommended for pregnant women 
    • No paddling experience is required 
    • A moderate fitness is recommended to fully enjoy this activity 

    What to Bring/Wear

    • Clothing suitable for kayaking  
    • For summer paddling, this means shorts, t-shirt, sports tights, quick dry clothing, water/wind proof jacket 
    • For winter paddling, this means anything from thermal/wool/poly pro, shorts or leggings, polar fleece, sleeved tops, water/wind proof jacket, hat and gloves  
    • Do not wear denim or cotton 
    • Shoes suitable for walking on rough uneven ground should be worn, such as trainers
