This adventurous trip will have you learning to Stand Up Paddle in the wilderness of the Blackwood River National Park. No experience necessary – it’s easy! Next you'll visit two local wineries and enjoy a gourmet lunch platter, tastings and a complementary glass of wine. Whether it’s your first time or you have paddled before, this tour is great for combining adventure with indulgence.
Expect to learn lots of new skills and safety knowledge all while enjoying the surrounding scenery & wildlife. Practice your new skills within the sheltered waters of the Blackwood River in a scenic National Park setting. We have a maximum of 10 people per instructor so you'll get the best expert instruction and guidance. Then relax and indulge in some great food and wine as we tour hand-picked local wineries in the luxury of our air-conditioned vehicle.
After meeting & boarding the bus, we'll get all the Waivers signed during the 15 minute journey to the Blackwood River National Park. Next get setup with a board & paddle and our experienced guide will deliver a full safety briefing and coaching info session on the beach at picturesque Chapman Pool. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have.
Then you will set off along Chapman Brook on your knees while learning to steer or if you're already experienced you can Stand Up at this point.
It's time to Stand Up and learn the basics of Stand Up Paddle technique as we reach the open stretch of the Blackwood River.
Travel through the twists and turns of the Blackwood River as you work on your paddling skills. It truly feels like the wilderness, without a house to be seen, and there is often wildlife such as eagles, waterbirds and occasionally a kangaroo. There's a chance for a fun SUP Race for anyone who is up to it, and some fun and games along the way.
You've earned a chance to rest and reflect on the paddling session as you enjoy a delicious and healthy fruit picnic on the beach at Chapman Pool. There's still a chance to enjoy a swim before we depart.
We will load up the boards on our custom-built trailer and board the SUP mini-bus to head for wineries and lunch.
Visit Redgate Wines - an authentic family owned winery - you may even have a chance to talk to the winemaker.
Enjoy a gourmet food platter, glass of wine, tastings & a chance to purchase wine.
Sample the prestigious wines with a sit down tasting at the Cape Dutch inspired cellar door of Voyager Estate. Learn about the history of the estate and the reason behind the South African inspired buildings. Visit the still operational powerhouse generators and walk around the fantastic gardens.
A short drive to town concludes the tour.
