During your fishing expedition, you and your friends will have the opportunity to hook a snapper, giant flathead, squid, elephant fish or shark. Cast your line. The fish are all just a nibble away!
Grab three friends and head out for half a day fishing trip on the water in Melbourne. You can look forward to catching the freshest local fish of the season, like Snapper during springtime and Pinkies, Flathead and Whiting during summer and autumn. An easy five-minute walk from St Kilda you can board your fishing charter. Even if you’ve never fished before, you’ll receive a full safety briefing and instructions before you leave port. Everything is taken care of with all bait, tackle, rods and reels provided.
Onboard you have all the facilities you need, including marine toilets and a large ice box everyone can use. While there are no guarantees of catching fish or perfect weather conditions on the day, the crew will maximise your chances by giving you helpful instructions. Plus, the boat is equipped with the latest fish-finding and GPS equipment for locating fishing hotspots.
The captain will share his passion and in-depth knowledge of fishing, life at sea and the marine environment. BYO 2 canned beers per person. Plus, all the fish you catch will be cleaned and bagged for you to take home.
Getting there: This boat departs from St. Kilda Pier (NOT THE MARINA), at 1 Pier Road St Kilda. Walk to the end of the pier then turn right at the cafe and look for Melbourne Fishing Charters signs at the end of the bridge. Paid parking is available at the St Kilda Sea Baths off Jacka Boulevard.
You MUST have a fishing licence to go on this fishing trip. Licences can be purchased from most Shell service stations or online at http://www.dpi.vic.gov.au/dpi/index.htm. A license will cost $10 per person and has a three-day validity. It’s best to purchase your licence the day before once your charter fishing trip is confirmed.
Trips depart on weekdays at 10.30am from September to December and at 11.30am (or an hour earlier depending on the weather) from January to May. Book at least 14 days in advance to avoid disappointment. Allow 5 hours for the entire trip and arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to avoid delays.
In the event of extreme weather, like high winds or swell, the trip may be cancelled. If that happens, the provider will contact you directly to reschedule the trip, no refunds available. Please provide a preferred contact number at the time of booking so that the provider can contact you if needed. The captain may cancel or cut short a trip if it’s unsafe to continue.
Changes or cancellations after bookings are confirmed must be arranged directly with the experience provider in line with their policy:
Rescheduling is allowed with at least a 48-hour notice. No shows and late arrivals will forfeit their booking.
