There’s a lot of great things to do in Melbourne but kitesurfing on St Kilda beach has to be one of the most exhilarating.
First, you’ll learn how to pilot the kite as controlling your kite is about 80% of kiteboarding. This important step will help you develop your kite skills and give you a better understanding of the wind, power zones, safety and the kiteboarding equipment itself so that you can use it to your best advantage. This hands-on class takes place on the beach so that after the first part is done, you can test your skills in the water. You’ll learn techniques including powered body drags, how to relaunch your kite and also how to get to safety. By the end of the two-hour lesson, you’ll be ready to experience the power and the thrill of kiteboarding in water.Getting there: This experience takes place at St Kilda West Beach, which is just a 5-minute walk from the Tram Stop at the bottom of Fitzroy Street for Route 16 & 96.
Available daily, except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. This class will last for two hours.
95% of the time, the weather at the beach is suitable for kiteboarding. The provider may give you a call up to an hour before your scheduled class to reschedule if the weather is unsuitable. We recommended you call the provider before heading to the beach for your class to confirm.
