Test your skills and fitness as you embark on this full day mountain biking adventure. Your ride through the Wombat State Forest will have you weaving through trees before fuelling up at the Holgate Brewhouse for lunch. Take it easy on the beers though as your riding adventure does not stop here!
Get yourself out of the city and active for a big day of mountain biking. There are lush forest trails to explore, towns to visit, and an award-winning brewhouse waiting to quench your hunger (and thirst), so it’s going to be a good day.
Your morning will kick off nice and early with a pick up from your Melbourne accommodation or home, heading out to the Wombat State Forest. Here you’ll hop on a mountain bike and weave through the trees and wilderness on a trail set for Woodend. The handmade forest trail isn’t too tough a circuit, but has a few challenges along the way to spice things up. All up it’s an approximately 17km trail that will take about two hours of riding, so get ready to get your blood pumping.
After your morning mountain biking session, you’ll arrive at the award-winning Holgate Brewery for some delicious lunch. The brewery houses a great range of beers brewed on-site, just make sure you don’t have too many as the riding portion of the day is far from over.
From Holgate you’ll jump back onto your bikes and head up the Calder Highway for about 35 minutes before reaching the township of Harcourt. This quaint town just outside Bendigo is the perfect mountain biking destination, with green, blue and black trails that stretch for 34km. These trails are your opportunity to test your fitness and skills, and check out the spectacular views along the way. If you’re a less experienced rider, or just a little weary from the riding (and beer), you can check out the easier handmade trails closer to Bendigo. After a few more hours of fresh air and getting physical, you’ll be taken back to Melbourne feeling exhilarated and exhausted from your mountain biking adventure.
