Do you know someone who has always dreamed of being at the controls of a powerful and authentic diesel locomotive?
Spend time with our experienced and dedicated instructors to gain an insight into how a locomotive works and how to drive it. The experience commences at 12:30pm at the Queenscliff Station, where you will be welcomed and given an introduction to the program.
The instructing driver will tailor the theory of the how the locomotive works to the individual’s level of interest and understanding. They will be guided through the preparation and checks a driver needs to make prior to driving the locomotive.
Participants will have the opportunity to become more familiar with the controls before departing. This may include making up the train by selecting passenger carriages from the yard.
Then around 1:00pm you will take the controls and, under supervision, head-out on a 33km return journey between Queenscliff and Drysdale with your friends and family onboard in the carriages.
During the journey, you will drive on various track gradients and be shown how to control the locomotive.
A couple of stops will be made at suitable locations on the route to enable you and your family and friends to take photographs or to record video footage.
The day generally finishes around 4pm and once everyone has exited the train, there will be time to take photos as the instructing driver presents a framed Certificate of Achievement and souvenir pack to the participant.
