Flying in a Tiger Moth planes will transport you back to the advent of aviation and give you a thrill like nothing else. The two seater aircraft has an open cockpit that allows you to feel the wind rushing past and admire unobstructed panoramic views from the sky. It’s something you need to tick off your bucket list, and Australia’s Hunter Valley region is the perfect place to do it.
First you’ll get geared up in all the authentic vintage flying gear, including a leather jacket, helmet, goggles and, of course, a flying scarf. There will be opportunities for pictures with the aircraft - a VH-BBC built in 1945 and immaculately restored - then it’s time to board the Tiger Moth plane with an experienced pilot, ready for your 15 minute scenic sunrise flight.
Taking off from Pokolbin you’ll enjoy unbeatable views from the cockpit of rolling hills of vineyards, Hunter Valley Gardens, Hope Estate winery, The Vintage Golf Course, Crowne Plaza, the Brokenback mountain ranges and plenty more. As the sun rises over the lush wine region, you can often see hot air balloons on their morning flights too.
This is an unforgettable flying experience that will get your heart racing, and it’s an incredible way to see one of the most beautiful regions in Australia.
