Immerse yourself in the exciting marine world of the Great Barrier Reef with this full day scuba diving and snorkelling trip that includes a visit to the Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA).
Departing from Townsville or Magnetic Island in the early morning, you’ll head to the Central Section of the Great Barrier Reef on a custom-built day vessel. There will be two dive sessions either with one of the experienced dive guides or you can explore the reef with your chosen SCUBA dive buddy.
One of the stops is the Museum of Underwater Art, the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and a definite bucket-list experience. Located on the John Brewer Reef, the museum is a spectacular site that highlights reef conservation, restoration and education.
Dive in and explore the amazing structures like The Coral Greenhouse - a submerged 72 metre building by artist Jason deCaires Taylor which is a flourishing wonderland of marine life, coral gardens and sculptures.
Surrounding the Museum of Underwater Art there is plenty more coral reef to explore on your SCUBA and snorkelling adventure. The reef depths range from 1 to 20 metres, making it suitable for everyone from snorkellers to beginner or advanced divers. Look out for colourful reef life like parrot fish, clown fish, Maori wrasse, turtles, stingrays, white tip and black tip reef sharks, and plenty more.
From the crew you’ll learn about how the Great Barrier Reef is being managed, what is being done to protect and what you can do to help. SCUBA diving the reef and the Museum of Underwater Art is an exhilarating adventure that will leave you in awe, so make sure you tick this Australian wonder off your list.
This experience is part of our Low-Footprint Adventures range because it’s ECO certified by Ecotourism Australia.
