By the end of this 4-day (2 weekends) course, you will be equipped with the knowledge & skills to charter a yacht in Australia. The only course of its type on Sydney Harbour!
There is nothing better than the freedom of being able to sail Sydney Harbour on your own. You do not require a license to sail most yachts on the Harbour however, you will need to have some skills and the confidence. We are passionate about sailing and about the Harbour and we have put together this learn to sail package to help get more people on the water. It should be noted that this experience is not limited to Sydney Harbour and that a large number of operators in The Whitsundays look forward to welcoming you on their yachts.
The learn to sail course is designed to be a fun way to get people out on the water and learn the basics of sailing. The course is spaced out over four days with eight hours spent on the Harbour each day with a qualified and highly experienced skipper. Some of the things you will learn include how to navigate and read nautical charts, how to handle a yacht under both power and sail, anchoring, handling the yacht under different weather conditions and how to berth your yacht.
This learn to sail course is for the beginner who is looking at chartering a bareboat sailing yacht in Australia or for those that just want to get out and experience something new. Come along on your own or bring along a team of workmates and turn this into a real team building exercise. We’ve even included a light lunch for you to keep you going through the day. Come along, learn some new skills and make some new friends!
This course is not accredited (no RYA or Maritime qualifications will be gained) however, you will gain the experience and knowledge to legally hire a bareboat on Sydney Harbour, The Whitsundays and pretty much everywhere else that sailing is popular in Australia.
