Where are the theme parks in Queensland?

You can strike theme park gold at the aptly named destination for action-packed exhilaration. The Gold Coast is Australia’s theme park capital par excellence.

The major Gold Coast theme parks are variously located within an easy commute from Surfers Paradise.

You’ll find Warner Bros Movie World and Wet’n’ Wild Gold Coast at Oxenford; Sea World and Sea World Resort at Main Beach, Queensland; and Dreamworld at Coomera.

What makes a great theme park attraction?

World-class facilities, encompassing the latest high-tech rides, entertainment and leisure attractions in vibrant, family-friendly surroundings are the makings of theme park greatness.

High-speed roller coasters, breathtaking water parks with activities designed for all-ages excitement, taste-tempting and affordable food and beverage outlets, wide open spaces with ample room to roam, plenty of public seating to soak up the surroundings and the ambience also immeasurably enrich the theme-park experience for mums, dads, seniors, teens and, of course, young ones to tiny tots.

The Gold Coast is your theme park epicentre, with more than five major centres offering theme park supremacy on land and water. You can experience state-of-the-art rides to suit all ages and exceed every sightseeing and thrill-seeker level of gravity-defying, daredevil-enticing, water plunging, surfing, skating and floating expectation.

Sydney is also spoilt for choice, with Luna Park Sydney, Sydney Aquarium, Wet ’n ’Wild Sydney, Madame Tussauds Sydney and Wild Life Sydney topping the list for major theme park thrills, spills, sights and delights in the NSW capital.

What to wear to a water theme park?

You should wear bathers and other appropriate water-immersion gear for diving headfirst into the water theme park dream scene.

Non-slip sandals are also a great recommendation for young feet scurrying to the next exciting water-based ride on their to-do list. Applying sunscreen is also highly advisable to avoid getting burnt while enjoying the awe-inspiring water-based action at these theme parks to “dive” for.

Don’t forget to bring a towel and change of clothing to follow your water-immersed adventures.

What are the theme parks in Gold Coast?

The Gold Coast offers a dazzling array of world-class theme parks, including Warmer Bros Movie World, Sea World, Dreamworld, Wet’ n’ Wild Gold Coast and Whitewater World, just to name the leading lights.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks is the big daddy and sole operator of the three major Gold Coast theme parks: Warmer Bros Movie World, Sea World, its adjacent Sea World Resort & Water Park, and Wet’ n’ Wild.

Theme parks on the Gold Coast are big business for a good reason. The excitement levels and high-tech evolution of all the latest rides, attractions, entertainment, staff and facilities are internationally renowned and second to none.

Collectively, the entire Village Roadshow group of theme parks receives around five million annual visitors at the Gold Coast alone.

There’s also the family-friendly Paradise Country, Paradise Island Resort, with its water-based and ice-skating theme park attractions, Australian Outback Spectacular, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Wiggles World and Infinity Attraction, for the latest computer-generated special effects, to round out the impressive theme park selection.

When do theme parks open?

Most major theme parks generally open daily from 10am to 5pm. Warner Bros Movie World and Sea World are open from 9:30am until 5pm, with rides access from 10am to 5pm. Whitewater World, within the Dreamworld precinct, operates from 11am to 4pm daily. Generally speaking, major theme parks are open every day of the year, except on Christmas Day and Anzac Day. However, Sea World is open on Anzac Day from 1:30pm until 5pm.

Visitors should contact the theme parks directly or jump online to check the opening hours and days of operation at their theme park of choice.
