See the stunning Bustard Bay, in the Eurimbula National Park, with this full day guided tour. This scenic region is located between Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy (named after the year Captain James Cook landed there) and home to a variety of wildlife. Look out for the local dolphins, kangaroos, emus, turtles and sea birds during the course of the day.
Your day will begin in an ex-army amphibious vehicle, which will take you around the bay (over four tidal creeks) before pausing for a tasty morning tea of fresh fruit, cookies and cakes.
It’s then time for your guided tour to head across Jenny Lind Creek to start a 4WD trip up Bustard Headland to the Bustard Head Light-Station, taking in the scenery as you go. You’ll learn about this area’s history from your guide, including stories about early settlers in this remote wilderness, and have plenty of opportunity to admire the 16-metre lighthouse and the views over the bay.
This is followed by an interpretative tour of the restored head light-keepers cottage and the little cemetery, where you'll discover why station earned the nickname 'Lighthouse of Tragedy'.
After the tour, it’s time for lunch – a selection of sandwiches, cold drinks, billy tea and coffee. You’ll also have time to take a stroll along the coastal rainforest walk to the foreshore.
Round off the day in style with some sand boarding down the 35m dunes of Middle Island.
