URBNSURF Melbourne is Australia's first urban surf park. With wave pools for surfers of all abilities. Beginners will find it the perfect place to learn to surf and more experienced surfers can have a blast riding wave after wave.

A surf park that creates perfect barrel waves, hot tubs, dining facilities and chill out areas in a non-coastal location might sound like a dream, but URBNSURF Melbourne has made it a reality.

Entrepreneurial URBNSURF founder Andrew Ross brought this revolutionary concept to life with the unveiling of the $18.5 million, two-hectare surfing lagoon: URBNSURF Melbourne, Tullamarine.

When is URBNSURF Melbourne open?

URBNSURF Melbourne, Tullamarine opened to all in early 2020. You can book passes to ride epic waves every day of the week. Opening hours are 6am to 10pm in summer and 9am to 6pm in winter. You can book beginner or intermediate surf lessons right here at Adrenaline for March 2020 onwards.

The URBNSURF address is 309 Melrose Drive, Tullamarine, which is only three minutes away from the Melbourne Airport and 23 minutes from the Melbourne CBD.

How does URBNSURF work?

From beginner surf lessons at The Bays to intermediate surf sessions at The Point, URBNSURF Melbourne offers awesome waves, clean water and a safe environment guaranteed. With endless ocean like waves, there’s fun to be had for complete surf newbies and those already catching waves on a regular basis.

URBNSURF makes use of Wavegarden’s next-generation Cove technology to produce waves between 0.6 metres and 1.9 metres, with rides lasting up to 32 seconds per wave. An 85-metre pier that runs down the centre of the lagoon propels the wave making via a series of pistons that control the water from left to right.

The two-hectare space has space for up to 84 surfers per hour, pumping out up to 1,000 waves on an hourly basis, day or night.

How much does URBNSURF cost?

URBNSURF prices for beginner surf lessons at The Bays, which include 10-12 waves per session, cost between $69 and $79. Intermediate surf lessons are also available for the same price range.

You may also wish to buy an URBNSURF experience as a gift voucher for someone. They can choose the time and date they wish to go.

Non-surfers are offered a spectator pass, which is included with all surfing sessions and lessons, for just $5 per person payable on the day. The pass provides access to all surf park amenities, including the lagoonside hot tubs, day beds, kids’ playground, change-rooms and landscaped grounds.

URBNSURF features a range of group events, including weddings, parties and corporate functions, with decked-out shipping container cabanas available for private hire. Check out our URBNSURF deals right here at Adrenaline for yourself.

Does URBNSURF Melbourne have a recreational pool?

URBNSURF Melbourne has plenty of amenities, including lagoonside hot tubs with day beds. The Lawns area is perfect for hanging out after catching some waves, or while waiting for others.

How did URBNSURF fill their pool?

The 320-metre URBNSURF pool, which requires about 25 megalitres of water annually (almost twice the size of the Melbourne Cricket Ground), was sourced mainly from the airport precinct and filtered.
