What is Drifting?

Car drifting is a driving technique that, on the surface, appears all over the place. It was ‘born’ in Japan and began its rise to popularity in Australia in the late 90s. It has steadily grown in popularity over the years. While drifting, the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, which means the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn. Drivers intentionally oversteer, lose traction and then keep control to drive the car around the corner.

Sounds confusing, right? All will be made clear when you head off to drifting school and learn how it’s possible to drive sideways! There are learn to drift options for absolute beginners right through to more advanced experiences for drivers who want to push their skills to the next level.
