What is drifting?

Car drifting is a technically challenging pursuit that, on the surface, appears all over the place. The rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, which means the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn.

Sounds confusing, right? But when you jump in the passenger seat or learn how to drive a professional drifting vehicle with a championship driver, the fine art of drifting is put into powerful perspective.

What does it feel like to go drifting?

When you get behind the wheel of a 180SX, 200SX, R32 or R33 Skylines, you’ll experience exactly what it takes to find your inner and vehicular balance while operating on the edge of control. This adrenaline-fuelled prospect will only take place of course after you’ve received a demonstration from your professional driving instructor.

You’ll learn driving skills you never thought existed, let alone imagine acquiring, in the most technically astute and hottest track action anywhere in rear-whee drive cars.

Where is the most scenic place to drifting?

For turning, cornering, braking techniques, competition levels set to floor you and a fun-filled setting in the great outdoors, it’s hard to go past the Drifting 8 Drift Battle Hot Laps event at the Sydney Dragway in Eastern Creek.

This popular package offered at Adrenaline has received commercial television coverage, and for good reason.

For the ultimate in tyre-smoking action, you’ll be strapped into the passenger seat for an eight-lap white-knuckle thrill ride in a custom-built drift car with D1 World All Star and Drift Australia Champion Fernando Wiehrl. He and his professional drifting sparring partner will also go head to head in a competition-level drift battle, with you along for the hot-laps ride of a lifetime.

The fleet of professional drift cars at their disposal is also as long as the exhilaration of this unparalleled driving experience is set remain in your treasured memory banks.

What should I know before my drifting experience?

All passengers who take part in a drifting experience must be a minimum 12 years of age. Parental consent is also required if the participant is aged between 12 and 18 years old.

No prior drifting experience is required for passengers or drivers. However, drivers must be at least 16 years old, present a current L-plate driver’s licence, and possess basic knowledge and experience in driving a manual-transmission vehicle.

Wearing a long-sleeved shirt or top, long jeans or pants and enclosed footwear is compulsory for all drifting events.

Also on the day, don’t forget to bring a hat and sunglasses, apply plenty of sunscreen and bring your camera to memorialise this unforgettable experience in imagery.

Is drifting a safe experience for my partner and I?

The professional instructors give new meaning to the term driving pro. Many are championships in their realm and all are top of the class. This can only equate to the safest, most technically precise and adrenaline-charged drifting experience on offer.

Your safety is the number one priority at all times, whether in learn-to-drive drifting packages or as privileged passengers joining these masters of the drifting art form for an event where the front wheels of these purpose-built rear-wheel drive cars take a turn for the better (for your experiential pleasure).
