If you are looking for a challenging adventure through the Australian Outback, this five day trek from Alice Springs along the Larapinta Trail is it. For four nights and five days you'll hike across the red rock slopes, gorges, snaking rivers, and open plains of West MacDonnell National Park, even conquering the summit of the iconic Mount Sonder. At night you'll sit around the campfire and sleep in swags under the stars for a true outback adventure.
Leaving from Alice Springs, this hiking trip is not for the faint-hearted as you'll be trekking up to 25km per day. Along the Larapinta Trail you'll explore the West Macs, take in the amazing sight of Ormiston Gorge, go wild swimming to refresh yourself from the heat and hard work, enjoy incredible views from Hilltop Lookout, and spot plenty of native wildlife. The final morning begins at 1am so you can embark on the climb to the Mount Sonder summit in the cool morning air, and soak up the incredible views over the outback and the path you walked over the past days.
This is one of the world's best desert treks and it's an extremely rewarding adventure for anyone who wants to tick the Larapinta Trail off their list.
