Take the helm on genuine America's Cup racing yachts in Auckland, home of the 2003 America's Cup. Be as involved as you want to be - take charge of the helm or relax and take in the scenery.
The America’s Cup Yacht Race is the world’s oldest and most prestigious yacht trophy and ultimate yachting regatta. Usually the domain of billionaires and elite professional yachties, the NZL 40 and NZL 41 America's Cup boats offer the opportunity for the likes of you and I to participate, sailing at full pelt on these grand prix racing machines.
Sailing an America's Cup Yacht is unlike most other sailing experiences you're likely to have - the sheer size and mast height means that you'll attract stares from other sailors on the harbour, whilst the speed and smoothness of travel is exhilarating.
You'll be encouraged to take the helm, wind the grinders or, if you prefer, you can just sit back and watch everyone else do all the work as you sail down Auckland Harbour. The trip suits people of all experiences and abilities - and is the perfect activity in Auckland, known as the ‘City of Sails’.
Great experience for a non-boatie. Crew were great and very obliging. It was a bit of a search and find to get to the "kiosk", but that was the only thing that might be improved (by a map).
A fantastic couple of hours sailing especially as the wind got up towards the end making it quite exciting. We were also lucky to get a glimpse of the newest AC 65 in training. Made my day.
The trip was well worth it. The staff aboard did a great job in letting everyone take part in steering the boat and man the grinders, also they were very courteous and took time to speak to you personally.
All done on internet. Easy, efficient and worked well for me.
Absolutely loved it! Although I was the youngest on the boat (by 30 years) it was so much fun. I was able to steer the boat and do some grinding. Crew were very friendly and helpful. The Americas Cup Sailing was fantastic :)
Additional to daily sailings, group charters are available. Numerous options exist which can cater for groups of up to 300 people.
